Know the dos and don'ts of apartment living
Bangalore is a city that created a real estate trend almost a decade
ago, paving the way for luxury living. From community apartments to
villas, penthouses to studio homes, the city has catered to the needs of
every person aspiring to own a home. Even today, Bangalore has the
bandwidth to welcome more and more people, especially those who have
left their homeland in pursuit of a better professional or business
opportunity. From luxury villas in electronic city to apartments in Kanakapura Road, from plots in Dodaballapur Road
to skyscrapers in Whitefield, the city has it all. While everyone has a
choice of their style of home, statistics hint that a large percentage
of the populace in the city likes and wants to live in apartments. Which
brings us to discussing the dos and don’ts of living in an apartment.

Do's
Report maintenance: See a leaking tap? Were first to notice the motor stopped working? Or hear a cranky sound when the elevator takes off? Take initiative even if there’s a maintenance issue and doesn’t belong within the confines of your living space. Chances are that the little issues, if not rectified on time, will turn into bigger problems and it won’t be long before this could mean trouble closer home.
Make it a community: Remember that you’ll be living in the apartment for the rest of your life, and so will your neighbours and their neighbours. Besides keeping the apartment safe and clean, build a relationship that makes each one of you feel like you’re a part of the same family. In short, be a close-knit community.
Don’ts
Living on your own terms: It sure is your home. But there are parts of the apartment building that is common property. Which means, spitting tobacco, smoking in the building, especially around kids or speaking in a rash or abusive manner openly is a strict no-no. Live on your own terms but know your limits as well.
Littering the complex: Treat the building, and every part of it, like it is your own. Avoid littering the apartment complex; especially the pathways, elevators, parking lots, and amenity area as it is you who’ll be using these facilities on a day-to-day basis. And obviously, who wants to wake up and start their day by visiting a place that’s littered? Not you for sure.
